Jacques Nicolas Bellin (1703-1772) was one of the most significant and skilled French Map-Makers of the 18th Century.. He was appointed to high office by the King of France. Many of his maps described political events and discoveries in the New World. This map in particular is remarkable for its original color, depth soundings of the bay and the preciscion for which Bellin's maps are famous.
